Kalavijay Eingineering plastic cable drag chain is a flexible guiding system used to route and protect bundles of cables, hoses, or fluid lines in machinery with moving parts. They allow cables/hose runs to bend, slide, or move without getting tangled, abraded, or stressed. They are widely used in CNC machines, robotics, automated warehouses, manufacturing machinery etc.
Material-
Usually PA6 (Polyamide 6) / Nylon, sometimes reinforced with glass fiber (~30%) for strength and stiffness. In cheaper ones PVC, PP etc. used. India uses PA6 with ~30% fiber glass in their heavy‑series chains
Inner Height & Inner Width-
Size of the internal cavity that cables/hose will go through. Needs to accommodate them plus allowance. Eg. KEDC-10 series has inner height ~10 mm, widths varying e.g. 10‑300 mm etc
Outer dimensions-
Including wall thickness, outer width/height, for mounting space
Bending radius-
The minimum radius the chain can bend while protecting cables. Important to avoid sharp bending which can damage cable. E.g. many KEDC chains have multiple bending radii like 25, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150 To 600 mm etc.
Speed / motion
How fast the chain will move. Dynamic applications require chains rated for higher motion, often lower friction and good durability. E.g. some heavy‑series from KEDC are rated for speeds up to ~5‑7 m/s.
Temperature / Environment
Operating temperature range (e.g. ‑30ºC to +130ºC in many). Also resistance to oils, chemicals, dust, corrosion, UV if used outdoors etc.
